The World Water Ski Show Tournament will be held in Canada in 2018.
Water Ski Capitol of the World
Wisconsin is known as the "Water Ski Capitol of the World" and there could never be a better place to showcase show skiing than in Central Wisconsin. Wisconsin Rapids is proud to be able to host the 2016 World Water Ski Show Tournament in September of 2016. During the week of September 8, this community of 18,000 will play hosts to water ski teams from around the world with the highlights coming on September 9-11 as they compete to win the World title. The winner of this tournament will be able to boast that they are the World Champions.
The Aqua Skiers from Wisconsin Rapids will be the official hosts of this tournament and have already spent countless hours preparing for this tournament and are confident that this event will be enjoyed by its participants and the many spectators and fans who will spend the weekend enjoying good food, cold beverages and family oriented entertainment on the water. The Aqua Skiers have had 50 years of experience in planning such a tournament, as they have hosted the World's largest show ski tournament, also known as the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Tournament, every year since 1967, as well as several National tournaments throughout the years.
Teams from Belgium, Australia, China, Canada, and of course, the United States will compete in such acts as jumping, bare footing, ballet, wakeboarding, pyramids and doubles. Each team will consist of 35 personnel and the ski fans can look forward to seeing more pageantry and creativity than in years past. Each team brings its own diversity and it is very enjoyable to see how each team is unique based on their own cultural knowledge and experiences.
This is the third World tournament, as the inaugural tournament was held in 2012, with the second one in 2014 and were both held in Janesville, Wisconsin. The Rock Aqua Jays and their committee members worked hard to get this tournament started and the Aqua Skiers look forward to following in their footsteps and making this third tournament as fun filled and entertaining as the previous ones.
The Aqua Skiers and the City of Wisconsin Rapids are looking forward to welcoming skiers, officials, sponsors and fans to Lake Wazeecha’s Red Sand Beach. The countdown has begun and you won't want to miss it!
